In Jules Verne’s classic sci-fi novel you could descend into Iceland's Snaefellsjokull volcano, meet a few dinosaurs and remerge at the surface through Italy's Stromboli volcano. We can't quite match that adventure. But on this blockbuster self-drive, you’ll still witness the legendary Snaefellsnes Peninsula – and add your very own riveting chapter on the South Coast. Professor Otto Lidenbrock missed the point. Instead of attempting a Journey to the Centre of the Earth, he should have focused on the natural wonders outside – not inside – Snaefellsjokull. This weeklong self-drive not only loops around the 1,446m-high volcano (which last erupted 1,800 years ago), but it also takes you to the surreal black-pebble beach of Djupalonssandur and the wave-gnawed cliffs and sea arches at Arnarstapi. The Snaefellsnes Peninsula has everything from forbidding cinder plains and troll-like sea stacks to friendly fishing villages and elusive Arctic foxes. You really couldn’t make it up.

Day 01

ARRIVE AT REYKJAVIK

On arrival in Reykjavik's Keflavik International Airport, meet our representative and get transferred to your hotel. Check-in to hotel and relax. Enjoy evening by exploring nearby places. Dinner at restaurant. An overnight stay at hotel.

Day 02

REYKJAVIK - HELLISHEIDI - SKAFTAFELL

Breakfast at hotel. Head east over Hellisheidi, past the greenhouse village of Hveragerdi to two of Iceland's best known waterfalls, Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss. Visit the Skogar Museum or drive to Reynishverfi and stroll along a volcanic sand beach, backed by impressive basalt columns. Cross the eerie, moss-clad lava field Eldhraun, the biggest lava field in Iceland formed in 1783 after the Laki eruption and continue east to Skaftafell. Be sure to take a walk up to the nearby lake of Systravatn, view the delightful waterfall Systrafoss and the eroded basalt columns of Kirkjugolfid. Two nights at Hotel Skaftafell. This day involves a long drive along Iceland's South coast from Reykjavik to Skaftafell but offers plenty of interesting sightseeing spots on the way. Dinner at restaurant. An overnight stay at hotel.

Day 03

SKAFTAFELL SIGHSEEING

Breakfast at hotel. Take a hike to either the tip of the Skaftafellsjokull glacier tongue, or Svartifoss, a beautiful waterfall framed by basalt columns. In the afternoon visit the stunning glacial lagoon Jokulsarlon. Dinner at restaurant. An overnight stay at hotel.

Day 04

SKAFTAFELL - GEYSIR (GOLDEN CIRCLE)

Breakfast at hotel. Make your way back along the south coast past Myrdalsjokull and Dyrholaey with its spectacular rock arch. Visit the Thjorsadalur Valley, including the reconstructed farm at Stong, which dates from the Viking period, and finally Mount Hekla. Dinner at restaurant. An overnight stay at hotel.

Day 05

GOLDEN CIRCLE - SNAEFELLSNES

Breakfast at hotel. A day to explore three of Iceland's best-known natural wonders: the Geysir hot springs area, mighty Gullfoss and Thingvellir National Park for a walk around the ancient assembly site. After, continue north towards the Snaefellsnes Peninsula in West Iceland and if you wish to in the summer, take the scenic route around the edge of Hvalafjordur to visit Glymur waterfall. Spend three nights at Fransiskus Hotel in Stykkisholmur, a delightful harbour town with a strikingly modern church, and take a stroll to its connected island, Sugandisey, or stay at Hellnar on the southern coast of the Snaefellsnes peninsula. Dinner at restaurant. An overnight stay at hotel.

Day 06

SNAEFELLSNES PENINSULA

Breakfast at hotel. Spend the next two days exploring the scenic Snaefellsnes Peninsula, walking among the fantastic coastal formations at Arnarstapi and visit the fjords and fishing villages along its north side. With good weather you may have views of the mystical cone-shaped volcano and Snaefellsjokull icecap. Or take part in optional excursions such as whale watching in Grundafjordur or horse riding on the coast (summer only). Dinner at restaurant. An overnight stay at hotel.

Day 07

SNAEFELLSNES PENINSULA

Breakfast at hotel. Today is second day to exploring the scenic Snaefellsnes Peninsula, walking among the fantastic coastal formations at Arnarstapi and visit the fjords and fishing villages along its north side. With good weather you may have views of the mystical cone-shaped volcano and Snaefellsjokull icecap. Or take part in optional excursions such as whale watching in Grundafjordur or horse riding on the coast (summer only). Dinner at restaurant. An overnight stay at hotel.

Day 08

SNAEFELLSNES - REYKJAVIK, DEPARTURE

Breakfast at hotel. Later drive back towards Reykjavik, perhaps taking the coastal road around the magnificent Reykjanes peninsula, before dropping off at Keflavik International Airport and taking the evening flight back to home.

Original passport with minimum 6 months validity from the date of tour arrival along with sufficient blank pages for the stamping of visa

Visa :

Schengen visa required for Indian passport holder. You need to obtain sticker visa from embassy before your travel to Europe / Scandinavian country.

Payment Terms

Payments can be made by Cheque, Demand Draft, NEFT, RTGS or IMPS. Cheque/Demand Draft should be in favor of "VM HOLIDAYS AND HOSPITALITY LLP".

Cancellation Policy

If the Guest decides to cancel the tour for any reason whatsoever then s/he shall give a written application to the Company within specified time limit along with original receipt issued by the Company. Such cancellation will attract cancellation charges stated here under.
Cancellation charges will be calculated on gross tour cost and the cancellation charges shall depend on date of departure and date of cancellation.
Cancellation charges for any type of transport ticket are applicable as per the rules of the concerned authority.
Air tickets issued on special fares are NON REFUNDABLE and Guest shall bear cancellation charges.
Any refund payable to the Guest will be paid after the Company receives refund from the respective authorities. The Company deducts processing charges from the refund to be paid to the Guest.

Refund Policy :

Refund Process time is 21 working days for any normal cancellation. You will get refund by Bank transfer only.

Note : For any natural disaster or Government Travel Ban, you will get refund as per supplier / hotel / airline policy. If they provide credit note than you will get credit note as per their terms & conditions. We are not responsible for any cash/Bank transfer refunds for it.

The above price is per person basis. High Season Surcharges are applicable; rates are not valid for long weekends and public holidays.
Child up to 4 yrs is Complimentary, Adult: 12 years and above.
Personal identification is mandatory to carry on tour for Air Travel, Hotels for security reason like: election card, Driving Licence, Passport.
All rates are valid for Indian national only.
The above given prices are subject to change without prior notice.
The quotation is based on Standard room of individual hotel, however if unavailable then the upgrading cost to be borne by the guest.
Hotel check in is 1400 hrs and checkout would be 1000 hrs. Early check in and late check out subject to availability.
If the above hotels are not available similar category hotels are used as hotel rooms are subject to availability.Hotels may provide room heater at an additional price on direct payment basis.
Meals provided at the hotel (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner) are based on a set menu.
Anything other than the set menu will be charged extra.
Driver is NOT A GUIDE; he will take you to the sightseeing’s mentioned in the itinerary. You will have to explore the place of visit on your own.
Vehicle will be not at disposal. If guest wish to go for additional sightseeing extra charges will be applicable.
Itinerary is subject to change.The above mentioned cost is not valid during National Holidays, festive season/long weekends, Christmas & New year.

Special Notes

Airlines/Room up-gradation and complimentary will not be entertained during the tour unless if specified at the time of booking.
There is no refund for any services not utilized during the tour.
Security deposit is required either in cash or credit card by hotels which is refundable provided no room incidentals are incurred. This security deposit is not included in this quote and must be paid by the guests/corporate directly to the hotel when checking in.
Guests are advised not to keep valuables in the coach/vehicle while sightseeing.
The Company shall not be responsible for loss of valuables from the coach / vehicle . If the coach / vehicle is accidentally or otherwise damaged by the Guest, s/he will be required to pay compensation for the same.
